01 / 12 Climate Equity AR
Prototype Info

Target Platform: iOS

Tools: Unity, C#, Mapbox, AR Foundation

My Job: Build up location-based AR effects of both world-scale and table-top with Mapbox SDK for Unity. Collaborated with a front-end web developer to produce communication functions between webpage and Unity. Integrate models, materials, interactions, and UI elements, implement optimizations to deliver a smooth experience. Conduct package testing and following up on submitting process through the iOS.

Project Brief

The Climate Equity AR experience uses both 1st and 3rd person views to visualize the potential climate risks around everyone. The table-top 1st person AR effect puts the map layers into our real-world environment to offer the audience an intuitive information requirement. Also, the world-scale AR takes the audience into the city, to spot trees, bioswales, and other identical biological landmarks.

02 / 12 Fan Chicken Warrior Arcade
Prototype Info

Target Platform: Windows, MacOS

Tools: Unity, C#, Arduino

My Work: Integrated 3D assets to build up the game environment. Made character control, tile generating, and other gameplay functions. Connected electronic parts to the game application through computer threads.

Project Brief

Fan Chicken Warrior is an endless runner game with physical controllers made of fans. Players use the fans as a motor and a weapon to control the game character. We installed this arcade game at a bar and more than 30 players had enjoyed it very much.

The chicken, which is the main character in the game, has been modified into a powerful warrior by a laboratory and has got independent thoughts. He realizes that he doesn't want to be a weapon of human beings and tries to escape from the laboratory. On his way to escaping, human citizens mistake him for a broiler chicken and want to prey him...

03 / 12 Myth of Yunnan VR
Prototype Info

Target Platform: HTC Vive

Tools: Unreal Engine 4, 3Ds max

My Work: Created voxel 3D models, materials, and animations. Integrated 3D assets, and built blueprints for gameplay.

Project Brief

A VR RPG game based on the story of a famous tourist attraction Xishuangbanna, Yunnan, China. Players will enjoy a fantastic adventure with its scenery and story. Puzzles are set on the way to explore the story. Interactions like grabbing, climbing are implemented to the puzzle design.

04 / 12 Soul Box AR
Prototype Info

Target Platform: Android

Tools: Unity, C#, Vuforia, AI.API

My Work: Designed a 3D model, printed it out with ABS, and stuck an AR marker onto its surface. Integrated 3D assets to build up the AR environment. Designed dialogue logic with AI.API and built up the chatbot with the AR figure.

Project Brief

The Soul Box AR is an urn for mortals' digital remains. The service system behind the product will collect the deceased one's digital footprints under his agreement, including emails, social media posts, chat history, and so on. Then the data will be analyzed and an AI character will be generated based on the data. A customized urn with personalized decorations will be printed out as the shell of a disc holding the data and the AI character. The physical box comes with an application. The owner(relatives of the deceased one) can access the data stored in the urn and interact with the deceased one's AI character.

05 / 12 Dance with the Boids
Prototype Info

Target Platform: Windows

Tools: Unity, C#, Kinect

My Work: Implemented Kinect SDK, integrated 3D assets, built the boids function, and connected user motions with the boids movement.

Project Brief

Boids is an artificial life simulation originally developed by Craig Reynolds. In order to offer a quiet, calm mood to the users, I connected the super stress releasing boids with user motions. Users feel like they are in a tranquil underwater space and wipe out all troubles in their mind. The two hands of the player are tracked by Kinect and are set to the boids' targeting point. There are four main force properties of a boid, including alignment, connection, separation and targeting.

Prototype Info

Target Platform: Web Browser

Tools: Figma

My Work: Based on the understanding of relative data analysis platforms and user portraits, provided insight to our product. Carried out user-flow walkthrough and user test to catch out design pitfall in the history version. Iterated hierarchy, layouts, interfaces, and UI elements of the platform to improve the user experience. Created interactive mockup with Figma to demonstrate product concept for further funding.

Project Brief

Pendulum is a web-based tool for fashion merchandisers and designers to collect sales information, get analytics and trend projection. The visualized data analytics could improve their efficiency.

07 / 12 Healing Wheels
Prototype Info

Target Platform: Windows, macOS with Java

Tools: Processing, Arduino

My Work: Researched for possible motions of ASD kids, related these motions to interactive objects in order to solidify the design concept. Used force sensors to collect jumping data to control spinning wheels and interactive animation projected to the wheels.

Project Brief

Stimming behaviors or repetitive self-stimulating are common in kids with an autism spectrum disorder. This project tries to make use of these natural behaviors that ASD kids are safe with to help them get connected with people around them. The spinning wheel in this installation is the main attraction to ADS kids, along with jumping motion as the power of the wheels. When more participants are jumping hard, more wheels are powered and are spinning nicely and beautifully.

08 / 12 Bananology AR
Prototype Info

Target Platform: Instagram, Facebook

Tools: Spark AR

My Work: Researched for interesting banana trivial. Built banana spotting functions and connected bananas with legible trivials.

Project Brief

“BANANOLOGY” - Banana Knowledge is an Augmented Reality entertainment content ready for mass communication. Users will receive interesting, intercultural, and inter-generational trivia of our favorite lunch box fruit, bananas. Through presenting fun reads, interesting and diverse culture, and personal to environmental benefits around our favorite lunch box fruit, bananas, we bring inclusion, and opportunities for our audience to form communities around their favorite lunch box fruit, bananas.

09 / 12 Defend the Pumpkins Arcade
Prototype Info

Target Platform: Arduino, Arcade Machine

Tools: Arduino

My Work: Edited buzz to emit basic music(alert), built gameplay logic, and connected the digital logic with physical circuits.

Project Brief

Defend the Pumpkins is a Holloween arcade game. When the buzz rings, it means bats are on their way to steal our pumpkins. As a dutiful scarecrow, the player needs to expel the bats with a flashlight.

10 / 12 Swim at Quarantine VR
Prototype Info

Target Platform: Occulus Quest

Tools: Unity, C#

My Work: Built motion tracking method, adjusted with Quest project frame, implemented it on target platform.

Project Brief

During the pandemic, people are locked at home. Face-to-face communications, parties, public sports, and other common activities are taken away from daily life. VR is a good way to help people sense the world and stretch their rigid limbs. Hand motions could be accurately tracked by the handles of VR devices, and this will make the swimming experience real and fun.

Project Brief

The peeing boy is a landmark of  Brussels, Belgium. The AR effect was inspired by the illusion during the pandemic. People are isolated, bored, lonely, and desperate with the outdoor life, but the long journeys are not possible during pandemics. Therefore, I created this AR effect, so people could bring the thriving, busy scenery spot home and release their depression.
